How to Print from a Chromebook

Printing from a Chromebook has traditionally been a bit of a struggle. The good news, is that Chromebooks have improved a LOT in this category over the years.

One thing that's still tried and true, is Google Cloud Print. While GCP is a very handy service, it unfortunately is not directly supported by every printer. Luckily, there are other options.

One such option is that Chromebooks now have the ability to add a printer directly in Settings > Advanced > Printing. This does not work for every printer model, but should be your first step in trying to print from your Chromebook. If adding your network printer this way does not work, you have two options: HP Print for Chrome (this only works for HP Printers) and Google Cloud Print (Many printers support this directly, and those that do not can still utilize the service in a more round-about way).

The following widget should help you get setup with these two options, should setting up the printer in Settings not work for your particular printer model:

      What about it? Try it out. Worst case scenario it doesn’t work. But it might.

      So far I haven’t been able to get an android app to print for me. Maybe this will change.
